The Peninsula Pathfinders first Special Event was held in 'Old Town" Suffolk, VA on April 3, 2004. This walk was held jointly with Civil War Days, which was sponsored by the City of Suffolk, VA. To be quite honest they were just a curious of the Volksmarchers as we were the Civil War re-enactors. The day was cool and the wind continued all day, after all this was still the last week of winter according to Punxsutawney Phil. Our has done some 'retooling' in trying new things to be added to the walks. One was a "greeter" to help new and experience folks out in finding the things that they need. The other item was to add cookies and drinks, free of charge, at our Check Point. Would these things work to have a 'better' walk? We will see.
With our Club President traveling the globe we all pitch in to get the walk set-up. It seems the city officials changed their minds a few times as were we were to be. In the end it all came together. Are those cookies and drinks to the right of the Finish Point? One last look at that one from the other side.
| Dick is now working the Check Point. He is really ready for anything. Look cookies, drinks, candy and tissues, too. We did not mention that he was in front of the new Suffolk Museum and there are restrooms too. Some Volksmarch workers have it all!

| Looking back at the new things added to our walks: Our club added the "Greeter" and that seems to set the mood of the walk. FUN! ![]() | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| All the cookies were eaten. There is some question as to weather it was but the workers or walkers. So will have to try that again at our next event.
| SEE YOU ON THE TRAIL!!
